Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes property distribution in marital relationships child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediation for those who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.
After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond the legal realm as she actively served as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce, custody, child support and guardianships - as well as estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
