THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses a majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 helping parties to help them settle their disputes without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid the court process and litigation.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work were instrumental in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to tackling social injustice transcended her legal career when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law – divorce, custody and child maintenance as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide a customized approach to each client's need.
