Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private party adoptions as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at hands of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned far beyond the legal realm as she actively served as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to increase awareness of human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law - divorce, custody and child maintenance as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning - wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide an individual approach to every client's needs.
